Founder of Gaming Reset
Saad is the founder of Gaming Reset. He started playing seriously at 19 and put over 3,100 hours into Dota 2 and more than 1,300 into Counter-Strike, alongside everything else. It took time out of his education first, then out of his working life: home from the job, straight into a game to unwind, and that was the whole evening, most evenings, for years.
He writes here about what he actually did about it. Uninstalling was the first thing he tried, more than once, and the games were always back within a few weeks. What eventually worked was structure rather than willpower, and Gaming Reset is the version of that he wishes had existed at the time.
He still plays now and then. The point was never zero hours, it was getting the rest of his life back off the shelf.
Nothing here is professional advice. The goal is plainer than that: honest, practical writing for people who already know they play too much and want a way out that does not lean entirely on willpower. When gaming is tangled up with something heavier, talk to someone you trust.
